1. Course Overview and Objectives

In this course we’re going to be offering you strategies for strengthening existing partnerships, and for building new partnerships by expanding your range of relationships.

You could argue that there’s no such thing as leadership without partnerships. A leadership challenge is one which by definition I can’t overcome alone. A challenge of any significance will require me to engage others and influence them to join the effort, contribute their skills and strengths and partner together to achieve results that none of us could achieve by ourselves.

We’ll look at a model for partnerships by Peter Block that challenges leaders to go beyond a simplistic mindset and learn to partner effectively even when the relationship is very challenging.

Objectives:

  • Broaden your perspective on possible partnership relationships
  • Provide a powerful example of strategic partnerships from Abraham Lincoln
  • Identify strategies that can help you strengthen existing partnerships and build new ones, even when difficult.
